In September of 2003 my life was forever changed. I woke up from a month long coma to discover that my fiance was killed in an automobile accident. In my first consultation with spinal cord specialist at Sheperd Center, I learned that I was permanently disabled. The spinal cord specialists determined that I would never walk again. I told them that they were wrong. Unfortunately. walking again would require a decade of my life, as well as most of my parents wealth. During the journey from wheelchair to walker, I resolved to help people navigate life better using lessons learned from tragedy.
